A Mutation in Ride A Pet changes a Pet you already own. The label can raise speed, ranch payout, or sell value—sometimes more than one of those—without forcing another rarity chase. This hub is the multiplier table players use when a weather window opens or a hatch comes out already labeled.
Current notes agree on eight names: Shocked, Gold, Volted, Diamond, Rage, Void, Rainbow, and Eternal. Reported multipliers run from 2× to 100×. Those figures are planning numbers. After a patch, read the tooltip on the pet itself before you sell the plain copy or sit through a long wait for a higher name.
Reported mutation multipliers
Eight Mutations are listed here with the multipliers used for planning: Shocked 2×, Gold 2×, Volted 3×, Diamond 3×, Rage 4×, Void 10×, Rainbow 10×, and Eternal 100×. Confirm each number in the live game after updates. A value that was right last week can move, and this table is not a promise that every client still shows the same tooltip.
Weather mutations and hatch mutations
Two doors create a mutated Pet, and they do not ask the same thing of your ranch. A weather mutation needs the Pet standing on the plot while that weather is active. Pets left in inventory sit out the roll. When the weather ends, check the nameplate and the stats. Do not assume every pet on the account changed because the sky changed.
A hatch mutation is the other door: the Egg opens and the Pet is already labeled. You did not park it for a weather event. Public write-ups disagree on which of the eight names prefer weather and which can appear at hatch, so this wiki does not assign a door to each name. If your client shows the label, keep the pet and compare it on a route you already know. If a clip claims a door you cannot repeat, ignore the clip.
The practical split is time. Weather asks you to give up a pet for a window you do not control. A hatch asks you to spend the Egg run. Early accounts usually lose more by freezing their only fast mount for weather than they gain from a 2× label. Later accounts, with a spare already hatched, can afford the wait. See the better pets guide, the Ride A Pet Eggs, and the mutations update .
What the multiplier changes on a route
Reported multipliers are a single planning number per Mutation, not a split sheet of speed versus cash versus sell price. Community notes say a mutated Pet can improve speed, earning rate, and sale value, and that the boost depends on the Mutation. This site does not invent which stat each name touches. Use the tooltip after the roll, then time one familiar return.
A 2× Shocked or Gold on a spare Cheetah can fix a desert timer you were missing by a few seconds. The same 2× on a Horse you still need for Rebirth does not make Horse a travel pet. A 10× Void or Rainbow sounds like a new account, but only if the base Pet was already worth riding or assigning to the plot. Multiplying a pet you never use still leaves you on the old mount.
Sell value is the trap. Players liquidate a mutated duplicate because the number looks large, then discover the plain copy cannot finish the loop the mutated one just shortened. Compare the route first. Sell only when a second pet already covers that job. See the Ride A Pet calculator, the Cheetah, and the pet speed guide .
How to get a mutated Pet
For a weather attempt, clear a plot slot and place the spare you are willing to lose for the window. Keep a mount you can still ride. After the weather ends, read the label. No change means that window missed—try the next relevant weather, or go back to hatching. Inventory pets do not join this step.
For a hatch attempt, run an Egg you can return twice in a row. A mutated hatch is a bonus on a loop you already finish, not a reason to start a route your mount cannot complete. If the new Pet is slower than what you ride, the label does not promote it to your travel slot.
Do not run both experiments on the only two useful pets you own. One stays on the route. The other may sit for weather or come from the next hatch. Horse stays available if you are close to the first Rebirth requirement in current notes: $1,000,000 cash plus a Horse. See the Rebirth guide, the Horse, and the progression guide .
- Spare pet on the plot for weather; inventory does not roll.
- Keep one mount that already finishes your daily return.
- Read the tooltip after the event or the hatch, not before.
Which multiplier band to chase first
Start with the band you can actually see. Shocked and Gold sit at a reported 2×. They will not replace a bad Egg route, but they are the first labels worth keeping on a duplicate you already use. Volted and Diamond step to 3×. Rage is the reported 4×. Those mid bands are where a spare income pet or a second speed pet usually pays rent.
Void and Rainbow are both reported at 10×. Eternal is reported at 100×. Those three are late goals. Waiting on Eternal while your only Phoenix sits on the plot freezes volcano routes and Radar savings. A finished 3× on a pet you ride every evening beats an unfinished 100× story.
If two names share a multiplier, pick by the pet and the door you can repeat, not by which name sounds rarer. Gold is not “better Shocked” at 2×. Rainbow is not “better Void” at 10×. Open the detail page, then test one label on one route. See the Shocked, the Eternal, and the pet tier list .
Use the table with Mutation Speed
The Mutation Speed tool on the calculator uses this same reported set: 2×, 2×, 3×, 3×, 4×, 10×, 10×, and 100×. Enter the base speed you measured, run the tool twice if you are choosing between two labels, and throw the result out if the live tooltip disagrees after a patch.
Pet Goal stays off until speed and income fields are confirmed. Do not backfill those blanks from a chat tier list. The Mutations pages tell you which spare to park and which mount to keep riding. The calculator only scales the number you already trust.
When an update post mentions Mutations, re-check this table before you rename a “best” setup in chat. Detail pages for each of the eight names cover effect, how to get that label, pets that fit it, the multiplier, and a short FAQ. See the pet choice guide .
Ride A Pet Mutations FAQ
How many Mutations are in Ride A Pet?
Current notes list eight: Shocked, Gold, Volted, Diamond, Rage, Void, Rainbow, and Eternal. Confirm the live list after updates before you plan around a ninth name from an old clip.
Do weather mutations and hatch mutations work the same way?
No. Weather needs the Pet on your plot during the event. Inventory pets do not join that roll. Hatch mutations show up when the Egg opens already labeled. Which name uses which door is not settled across public lists—trust the client you are playing.
Should you mutate your only fast Pet?
No. Park a spare. If that pet is also your only way home from an Egg run, you stall both the mutation wait and the route. Keep one reliable mount assigned to travel.
Is Eternal the first Mutation to chase?
No. The reported 100× is a late target. A 2× or 3× you can finish on a pet you already ride beats an Eternal wait that freezes your only strong mount.
What if the tooltip multiplier does not match this table?
Trust the live tooltip. This table is the reported planning set checked with the rest of the wiki. Patches can move numbers. Then open Mutation Speed only if you still want to scale a speed you measured yourself.
Which pets are worth mutating first?
Duplicates of pets you already use: a second speed pet such as Cheetah, or a second income pet such as Giraffe or Elephant. Do not spend the first weather window on your only Horse if Rebirth still needs it.
